In 2016, Dimsi concluded an acquisition of the majority share package of the Saracen hotel, starting a new management and planning a restyling of the structure in several steps.
The Saracen Sands Hotel & Congress Centre is located in Isola delle Femmine (PA), 15 minutes from the "Falcone Borsellino" airport and the historic center of Palermo, with an enviable geographical position between the Mollica and Raffo Rosso mountains, the Capo Gallo promontory with its Nature Reserve and the charming seaside villages of Mondello and Sferracavallo.
The Saracen Sands Hotel & Congress Centre accommodation complex extends over an area of approximately 3 hectares, with a structure that includes 4 floors above ground and 1 semi-basement. On the ground floor there is a large Hall, co-working areas, 2 restaurant rooms with adjoining kitchen, bar, gym, office area and some rooms with adjoining toilets. The rooms, a total of 237, are also distributed on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. The conference rooms, the wellness area and the pizzeria are located on the semi-basement floor.
In the first batch of works carried out in 2017, conducted by Arch. Contarino, the interventions mainly concerned the redevelopment of the common areas aimed at restoring light to the large hall area and the external spaces overlooking the sea: green areas, with a splendid lawn and lush palm trees, a seafront terrace with new flooring, new systems and new furnishings.
A fitness area has been created with professional Technogym equipment, followed by a wellness area while the first renovation works are being carried out on a batch of rooms and their bathrooms.
For the catering part, in addition to radically renovating and redeveloping the areas intended for this purpose, a cutting-edge “show cooking” has been implemented, aimed at improving the quality of meals and a specially dedicated and equipped area has been set up which parents can use free of charge for preparing meals for children aged 0/36 months.
In 2018, the renovation works concerned the conference area with the renovation of the modular room and the remodeling of the Teatro del Sole room, formerly the Music Hall, one of the largest conference rooms in Sicily, with new coverings, lighting, stage and bar corner.
In 2019, a new stage of work was started, aimed at redesigning the hall and the entrance area of the structure, with a view to greater functionality, with the creation of new spaces for conviviality, more comfortable natural light and a modern and welcoming design.
In the following years, renovation works were also carried out on new batches of rooms, redesigned in the furnishings and renovated in the bathrooms.
In 2022, the new Superior Plus rooms took shape, all with sea view while in 2023 the Suites and DeLuxe rooms were inaugurated. Also in 2023, the renovation works of the entire parking area and access to the structure were carried out, new technologies were integrated into the conference center, new modern corridors and one of the banquet rooms was renovated.
The hotel is a 4-star accommodation facility with a very well-known and prestigious name and brand, inaugurated and in continuous operation since March 1972. Its geographical location and its leisure services make Saracen the optimal choice for holiday stays. But the hotel, open all year round, embraces other market segments. Thanks to the large Congress Center and meeting rooms, the facility is also ideal for conferences, business stays and for hosting private events with a refined banqueting service. All the interventions aimed at the constant improvement of services for the different customer segments have been designed and implemented on these assumptions.
Over the last few years DIMSI has undertaken a plan of acquisitions and investments linked to the renovation of hotels. It allowed the achievement of significant economic results and the consolidation of the various activities, projecting the holding increasingly as a leader in the Sicilian market.
